How is biogas produced?
Biogas is in other words a mixture of gases that is a product of the anaerobic decomposition of organic matter – sewage, organic municipal waste, animal excrement or waste from the agri-food industry, as well as their putrefaction. Once the biogas has been purified, bio-methane which meets natural gas standards is produced.
How do we use biogas in our engines?
The biogas produced during the fermentation of organic material and collected is used to generate heat and electricity in Cagen engine CHP systems. Biogas-powered equipment is a clean, economical and sustainable way of providing energy, which can then be used locally or fed back into the national power grid.
What are the benefits of using biogas?
- high yield factor at the level of 42%
- reduced energy consumption and positive economic calculation (thanks to the use of cogeneration or trigeneration technology)
- constant gas supply due to uninterrupted production of biowaste
- complete utilisation of manure, slurry and biowaste
- valuable residues from the process, i.e. fully valuable fertiliser that can be used for crop quality or as a source of additional profit for the company
